Parent
Consultation |

|
A Parent Consultant employs short-term,
goal-oriented meetings that focus on a specific set
of questions or problems. This format is brief in
length and limited in scope and depth. It is
designed to find a solution to a problem and answer
a specific question. Typical reasons for parents to
request a consultation relate to choosing a school,
preparing for a school meeting that will address
educational or behavioral problems of their child,
advocating for a gifted child, considering
acceleration, advocating for
remediation/compensation/accommodation services for
a twice-exceptional child, considering
homeschooling, considering different treatment
options for a child diagnosed with ADHD or learning
problem, seeking a second opinion on a previous
diagnosis, or seeking Dr. Newman’s analysis of an
evaluation completed with another mental health
professional.
